Originated from graph-based modeling research done in Koblenz -- see http://www.gupro.de/ and http://www.gupro.de/GXL/

The Graph Exchange Language (GXL) is designed to be a standard ExchangeFormat for the needs of the reverse engineering and reengineering community. GXL can represent information derived from software at various levels of granularity, ranging from the low level details of expressions up to high level architectural features. Information in GXL is represented as typed, attributed, directed graphs. GXL is the successor of the Graph Exchange Format (GraX?).
