According to Chapter 9 of GenerativeProgrammingBook: _a generator is a program that takes a higher-level specification of piece of software and produces its implementation._ Generators address the following issues:

	* Raising the intentionality of system descriptions
	* Computing an efficient implementation
	* Avoiding the library scaling problem 

Chapter 9 of GenerativeProgrammingBook discusses GenVoca in quite some detail as an example generator.
