The ReverseAndReengineeringTaxonomy defines forwared engineering as the traditional process of moving from high-level abstractions and logical, implementation-independent designs to the physical implementation of a system.

The adjective forward has come to be used when it is necessary to distinguish this process from ReverseEngineering.
